1906 ~ The Managers' Minute Books

Ruislip Church of England School
Managersí Minute Book 1
(General Introduction - Opens in a new window)

- 1906 -

Below we present the record of meetings the Managers held during 1906.

Only one meeting is recorded for 1906. The Education Act 1902 required meetings at least every three months. Indeed, in 1904 (07/05/1904) the Managers had agreed to reconvene every two months. In the event neither the law, nor the Managersí best intentions, were being adhered to!

The July 1906 meeting was largely devoted to issues concerning the schoolís Trust Deed. The Education Act 1902 referred to the Trust Deed both in relation to the composition of the Foundation Managers, and in relation to the delivery of Religious Instruction - hence the interest of both the LEA (in respect of the Managers) and the National Society (for the content and delivery of Religious Instruction).

March 10th 1906

A Meeting of Managers was held in the school room at 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 10th 1906.
Present:      Messrs R.H. Deane, E.R Abbott County Councillor
& the Vicar in the Chair

The minutes of the last meeting were read & confirmed

Board of Education & the Trust Deed

A letter was read from the Board of Education asking for the Trust Deed to be sent to them & certain information as to the Teachers residence.

Mr Abbott thought it was unwise to send the Trust Deed through the post & suggested that a certified copy should be made and he undertook to get one & forward it with necessary information to the Board of Education.

National Society on the Trust Deed

A letter was read from the National Society asking questions about the Trust Deed. The answers were decided on & the Vicar was asked to send it on.
Amount spent on buildings since 1902, £334.18.9

Diocesan Inspection

The report of the Diocesan Inspection, which was very good, was laid on the table.
