1948 ~ The Managers' Minute Books

Bishop Winnington-Ingram CE Primary School
Managersí Minute Book 1
(General Introduction - Opens in a new window)

- 1948 -

Below we present in outline a record of the meetings of Managers in 1948.  There were four full meetings and one special meeting. We have provided the opening headings, the list of those present, and thereafter only the side headings.

Most of the minutes were recorded in an unfamiliar hand.  From the December meeting up to the end of the book all minutes were in the hand of W. Dixon-Smith, often written at speed and not always entirely legible. Dixon-Smith also made some retrospective annotations to earlier minutes if they related to later events.

Following the minutes for the December 1948 meeting Dixon-Smith pasted in several typewritten documents, some of which he annotated to explain their relevance.  He also entered a Memorandum on the School Meals Service.

The entire content of the Managerís discussions revolved around repairs and maintenance of the school building and grounds, especially the Hall.  The latter was of particular concern, since it was also the Parish Hall, let to outside bodies and thus provided a valuable funding stream for the Parish.
