1980 ~ The Summer Fete

May - and the annual Summer Fete.
The piper, with attendants, sets off for Ruislip High Street
to announce the opening of the Fete.

This year Andrew Sachs,
the popular character 'Manuel' from the television series Fawlty Towers,
opens the Fete and then entertains the crowds.

He is 'assisted' by Mr Knowles and Clive Pigram, Chair of the Parents' Association.

Stepping out of character,
there are autographs to sign
and activities to be enjoyed
- including the ever popular cake stall.

There's a display of gymnastics ...

...and more stalls to visit before the Piper returns ...

.... to accompany the dancing
