1984 ~ Farewell Mrs Stevenson

At the end of the summer term 1984 Monica Stevenson retired
after 23 years as the school secretary.
Yet she had been far more than that, not just carrying out administrative work
but also patiently supporting teachers
including employing her writing talents to provide a number of play scripts
(to mention just two - Ming Lee and the Magic Tree in 1982 and Dracula in 1984)
and, as a history sleuth, writing the history section of the Golden Jubilee booklet.
She had been a true member of the BWI Family and to show its gratitude
was given an appropriate retirement 'send off' on 19th July.

Dennis Knowles presented Mrs Stevenson with a number of gifts
including this portrait of her made by Dawn Boyfield
the previous Head of Infants

In return Monica Stevenson presented the school with
three netball mascots she had made.

A great occasion for staff past and present to get together.
